indiana is the example he didn't vote for the affordable care act or obama care or dodd frank regular latering the banks and so forth and so on, it was other stuff. but the point was -- this is the data point. and this is what has many people -- the gerrymander has split the house. you have people on the far right, the far left. the president -- the districts are drawn. all republican, all democrat. in the senate, it's two things. the fact that no one votes the primaries, which is the point i'm about to make, and the role of big money. you asked me what changed? there was a case decided by the supreme court that now allows unlimited amounts of money to be donated to flow into the campaign. so what happened to dick luger. first -- this was not a secret election. there's millions of dollars on advertising. i knew there was a big election. everybody knew the election was coming up. the voter turnout on the primary, 18%. one in five eligible republican voters. the same thing for democratic primaries. who are the 8%? the most partisan, the most ideological, people are mad about something.

as president obama has said from the very beginning, he's working -- he's willing to work with anyone to make this law work better. it's in the united states of america and the affordable care should never be the privilege of a lucky few but rather a right for every american. the affordable care act gives us an option to make that realistic and we intend to see this through. thank you very much for the opportunity to be with you. [applause] >> denis, thank you. he needs to get back to the white house but let me just mention to you the effort it took for dennis to be here. originally, we had chris jennings scheduled to come and this weekend, he determined he was not able to be here for other reasons and the chief of staff said he would come and provide a speech and that was very generous of him as well. he needed to get back to the white house but thanks to denis mcdonough, a friend and somebody that i think serves this country very well. next, i have the opportunity to introduce my friend tom daschle from aberdeen, south dakota. there is a theme here. stillwater, aberdeen, north dakot

is obama care constitutional? a huge number of people will focus on it in an institution that won't adapt itself because it's very staid to getting that information out there. in terms of what it is we're able to do as part of a national conversation, it should be clear to everyone that we are hardly alone. so, for example, american lawyer media, for which tony now works, has this wonderful publication, supreme court insider, which is getting more information about the court. pete reports on the law, the justice department, the supreme court. instead of one platform in nbc news, msnbc, and the website of nbc news. so i do think that we are far from alone in taking advantage of the lower cost of distribution. we should talk about the economic models. tony operates on one. some of the materials free through the blog. some of it is a subscription only through the supreme court insider. pete's work is advertisement supported. we have a sponsor in bloomberg law that's been essential to financing a huge number of things
